Study of Galactic structure using UVIT/AstroSat star counts

چکیده
The structure of our Galaxy has been studied from ultraviolet (UV) star counts obtained with the Ultra-Violet Imaging Telescope (UVIT) on board {\em AstroSat} satellite, in Far-UV (FUV) and Near-UV (NUV) bands. F154W (BaF2) N263M (NUVB4) filters were used FUV NUV bands, respectively. point sources are separated extra-galactic UVIT observations using infrared (IR) color cut method. observed match well simulations Besan\c{c}on model stellar population synthesis towards several Galactic directions. We also estimated scale length height thick disc thin space density function exponential law for stars intermediate latitudes. ranges 3.11 to 5.40 kpc whereas 530$\pm$32 pc 630$\pm$29 pc. comes out be range 230$\pm$20 330$\pm$11

Galactic Parameters from Whole Sky 2MASS Star Counts
The whole sky differential star counts (DSC) with 1 degree resolution are retrieved from 2MASS online data service. Galaxy with double exponential thin and thick disks and a single power law luminosity function (LF) is used to interpret the 2MASS data. The slope of the DSC appears roughly isotropic over the whole sky, the average value is ∼ 0.32, which corresponds to a power law index ∼ 1.8 of ...
متن کاملCADIS deep star counts: Galactic structure and the stellar luminosity function
In this paper we present the first results of deep star counts carried out within the Calar Alto Deep Imaging Survey, CADIS (Meisenheimer et al. 1998). Although CADIS was designed as an extragalactic survey, it also attempts to identify the stars in the fields in order to avoid confusion with quasars and compact galaxies. We have identified a sample of about 300 faint stars (15.5 <∼ R <∼ 23), w...
متن کاملD outer bulge structure from near infrared star counts
We attempt to study the characteristics of the different stellar populations present in the Galactic central region. A Monte Carlo method is used to simultaneously fit 11 thin disc and triaxial outer bulge density parameters on (Ks, J-Ks) star count data in almost 100 windows from the DENIS near infrared large scale survey at-8 • <l<12 • and |b|<4 •. Various bulge density profiles and luminosit...
متن کاملThe Interpretation of Near-Infrared Star Counts at the South Galactic Pole
We present new deep K ′ counts of stars at the South Galactic Pole (SGP) taken with the NAOJ PICNIC camera to K =17.25. Star–galaxy separation to K =17.5 was accomplished effectively using image profiles because the pixel size we used is 0.509 arcsec. We interpret these counts using the SKY (Cohen 1994) model of the Galactic point source sky and determine the relative normalization of halo-to-d...
متن کاملThe evolution of the Milky Way disc II. Constraints from star counts at the galactic poles
Classical models of the stellar populations in our Galaxy based on exponential density laws turn out to be unsuitable to match comprehensively recent data from deep surveys at a broad variety of wavelengths. Actually, we show that such modelsmay generate spurious interpretations of deep star-count data, resulting in biaised estimates of the density characteristics of each population. Instead, a...
